From Assistant Area 55 Governor Johnny Sipes comes this information:

For a bit of fun, check out HGTV’s sleep on it program, episode

spied a familiar Toastmaster face on the 11pm episode Sunday night.
Yes, the familiar face on TV belonged to none other than D27 Governor
Heath Suddleson!  The episode features Heath and his family looking for
a house to buy in Silver Spring, MD and they decide to spend the night
to help decide whether to buy or not…

Educational and Leadership Awards

14 04 2008

Lieutenant Governor Lillian Cooke writes:

Congratulations to each of you who have submitted educational and
leadership awards this Toastmasters year.  You have helped your club
achieve goals toward the Distinguished Club Program (DCP).  You can see
the list of clubs with 5 or more goals achieved already by reading the
latest District 27 (D27) Newsletter…Action Lines by going to
www.d27tm.org and clicking on the newsletter button on the right.

Some of D27’s clubs are at 3 or 4 goals met, and can probably get to 5
goals before the end of the month and qualify for one of District 27’s
incentives…Distinguished by April 30th.  If your club is Distinguished
or better by April 30th, it will receive a $50 gift certificate from the
District.  Be sure to come to the District Spring Conference and receive
a $50 gift certificate during the Hall of Fame segment.

If your club is one or two goals away from being Distinguished, the Vice
President Education should talk to the members again to determine who is
really close to completing the requirements for a Competent Communicator
(CC) Award, an Advanced Communicator (AC) Award or an Old Competent
Leader (OCL) Award and work with the member(s) to complete the
requirements.  Let me know what I can do to help by sending me an email
at d27lget@d27tm.org or giving me a call at 703-386-6351.

Remember that June 30, 2008 is the last day to submit an OCL.  The OCL
Award will never be offered after that date.

Got questions?  Call me or email me.

Can You Recruit a Corporate Sponsor for the Conference?

3 04 2008

Lieutenant Governor Lillian Cooke writes:

The Spring Conference is fast approaching and we are seeking corporate sponsorship to help defray the cost of hosting such an event. The fact that the Toastmasters International President will be visiting and the fact that our conference is on a holiday weekend have led to some increased expenses. I seek your help in soliciting sponsorship from your corporation if you are an employee or from a corporation that you may be affiliated with in your personal endeavors. Thousands of major organizations sponsor Toastmasters groups around the world. Many have incorporated Toastmasters training into their onsite education and development programs to help employees improve their communication and leadership skills. Click on the link to view a list of them from the Toastmasters International web site.

You can find out more about sponsorship opportunities in District 27 at this link.
